A Geometric Approach to Invariant Sets for Dynamical Systems

In this article, we present a geometric framework to study invariant sets of dynamical systems associated with differential equations. This framework is based on properties of invariant sets for an area functional. We obtain existence results for heteroclinic and periodic orbits. We also implement this approach numerically by means of the steepest descent method.

Exponential law as a more compatible model to describe orbits of planetary systems

According to the Titus-Bode law, orbits of planets in the solar system obey a geometric progression. Many investigations have been launched to improve this law. In this paper, we apply square and exponential models to planets of solar system, moons of planets, and some extra solar systems, and compare them with each other.

Evaluation of Geometric and Atmospheric Doppler for GNSS-RO Payloads

To reduce the sampling rate in global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-radio occultation receivers, it is essential to establish a suitable estimation of Doppler frequency from the received signal in the satellite onboard receiver. This receiver is usually located on low earth orbit satellite and receives GNSS satellites signal in the occultation situation. The occurred Doppler on the signal ...

Steepest descent on real flag manifolds

Among the compact homogeneous spaces, a very distinguished subclass is formed by the (generalized) real flag manifolds which by definition are the orbits of the isotropy representations of Riemannian symmetric spaces (sorbits). This class contains most compact symmetric spaces (e.g. all hermitian ones), all classical flag manifolds over real, complex and quaternionic vector spaces, all adjoint ...

Shadowing Pseudo-Orbits and Gradient Descent Noise Reduction

Shadowing trajectories are one of the most powerful ideas of modern dynamical systems theory, providing a tool for proving some central theorems and a means to assess the relevance of models and numerically computed trajectories of chaotic systems. Shadowing has also been seen to have a role in state estimation and forecasting of nonlinear systems. Shadowing trajectories are guaranteed to exist...
